| Show I FROZEN FEET 4 I Terrible Experience of Mr John I llonsemnn I A few days ago a man was brought to the city by Bishop George Munford i 1 by whom he ha been cared for the r night previous having been found in a sorrowful plight by the worthy I bishop near his home Houseman is rather talkative and tells his story F p well He has had a hard experience I during the past few weeks He says he is of Norwegian parentage parent-age and ha recently come from Spokane j 1 f Spo-kane Falls Washington and about three weeks ago left Salt Lake endeavoring r 1 endea-voring t make his way south t south 7c r ern Nevada He passed through Salina Sa-lina Richfield thence followed the Sevier river to Circleville he was cared for one night at Kesslers ranch from here he struck over the mountains moun-tains and reaching Lows ranch hew he-w s about to put up for the ni ht i being then about 6 p m But finding no person no hay and no place to leep he pushed on towards Beaver Beaching Fremont fat just over the ridge he became exhausted and being still smve ten miles from this city he t nearly gave up in despair But the howling wolves and coyotes howlng woles spurred i him on realizing there was one chance for life against two for death On on he struggled over the ridge and when within a short distance of Mr William t a Andersons home about two miles Ip from town his feet became so benumbed y be-numbed he fell unable longer t stand He made his way to Mr Andersons I ft house on his hands and knees through the deep snow reaching there at near Jv 4 oclock in the morning His dis tressing cries for help aroused the family he was taken in and cared for and n xt day brought to this city An examination of hi feet showed that I they had been badly frozen and that the toes on the left foot will all have to come of and perhaps the entire Ij right foot entre l At present the unfortunate man Is I resting in the county jail being in 1 charge of Sheriff Morris who Is treat Inc him very kindly and rendering I vel kindt ad renderng all the assistance that lies in his power VI Beaver Utonian |
