Show I StfYDER SCORES TKR NUGGETS Underhanded Work of the Republican Party CondFinne I by a Rrpnblican PEOA Nov Correspondence of Tim HEHALDJOn the afternoon of Nov 3 Mr W L Snyder the Republican candidate candi-date for county attorney for Summit county addressed I fairly sized meeting in Peoa Mr Snyder camo out squarely against the underhanded methods of some of his party in issuing such campaign documents as Nuggets of Truth On the evening of the same day the Democrats of Poets had an enjoyable time at a Democratic rally held in the large and comfortable school house which was crowded to suffocation many persona being be-ing unable to find room in the building Early in the evening a large bonfire was built on the hill just back of the schoolhouse school-house Just before time to gather to the meeting the Kamas brass band drove into town and played several selection having come eight miles through mud and bad roads to take part with the grand old party After a selection by the band Mr O F duced Lyons chairman of te meeting intro tilt J Q II BAKNES of Kaysville who delivered an able address ad-dress Mr Barnes spoke at some length upon tariff and its hardships upon the working classes how tbo rich were being made richer at the expense of the nonest toil of the farmer urged all to study tho doctrines of the two national parties and choose that which seemed to them to be the nearest right urged the Democrats to be firm to their convictions and vote solid for our candidate Joseph L Rawlins The speaker was loudly applauded throughout his remarks The Peoa Glee club then rendered the Now York Worlds prize campaign song which was applauded to the echo After music by the band the chairman introduced lIB NOUN y PEBKISS of Ogden as the next speaker Mr Perkins Per-kins Is one of the best sneakers that we have had address us during the campaign Ho at once went into his subject I a masterly mas-terly and earnest monner and held tho audience spellbound with his arguments in favor of Democracy When the speaker predicted that the grand old warhorse Grover Cleveland would take the presidential presiden-tial chair on the 4th of March next and that Joseph L Rawlins would be our next delegate to Congress the building fairly trembled with applause At the close of the meeting a vote of thanks was tendered to the speakers to the band and to tbe Glee club after which the people retired to their homes with happy feelings and smiling faces I was the largest and most enthusiastic of all the meetings held in Peoa I FITZALAN I aborts Brlgham City BRIODAU CITY Nov 5Hon B H Roberts delivered one of the best speeches last night that has evor been made in Brigham City He had the Magnetic Cannon opposing him in a Republican meeting meet-ing but there were over 750 people who preferred to listen to Democratic doctrines The uudienco very enthusiastic Mr Roberts made special reference to tho notions no-tions of Joseph E1 and John H Smith and I others who had sought political success by using the names of Brigham Young Joseph Smith and others The people should standby stand-by their party If the people of Utah which gave a 7000 Democratic majority aye a-ye t ago were to elect Franic Cannon it would tend to make the American people believe that the men of Utah could not DO trusted The last Democratic rally of the campaign cam-paign will be held on Monday evening |
