| Show TH UNION CLUB Last Nights Success Affair a Social The Organization Starts Out With a Membership Mem-bership of Over One Hundred Other Societies The Union club threw open its doors to tho wives and ladles of its members last evening and signaled theevent by presenting an informal infor-mal concert of nino numbers rendered in the capacious parlors on the third floor of the Hotel Templeton The handsome rooms and the long hallway were a blaze of light and brilliance and though there was no dancing there were I number of elegant and striking toilettes among the ladies while every gentleman wore the regulation full dress Messrs Coffin Welis and Buton acted as a reception committee and as fast as the elevator unloaded the guests I seated them in the parlors About two hundred hun-dred ladles and gentlemen were present The musicalo was as announced in TIE SUNDAY HEKALD and was under the direction of Mr Grant Hampton who arranged the numbers with good taste and skill Mr Weihe of course overshadowed everything else and though he was down but once he had to give three numbers the encores being the dashing Jusin mazurka and a divine lullaby Miss Lincoln though a trifle hoarse had a warm greeting and her creole song with imitation A face banjo accompaniment was a gem new and voice both charmIngwere introduced in the person of Miss Fabian of St Louis who sang contralto songs most sweetly Her encore core the Postillion I lendered in German was the best thing she aid Mr Sam C Part showed glimpses of the fun of which he is capable but only glimpses Mr Hamptons baritone songs were a surprise he has mad such decided improvement since he was last heard in public For an encore he gavo My sweetheart When a Boy in excellent style Sir Krouse presided at the piano in his usual capable manner and Miss Marriott accompanied accompan-ied several of the numbers acceptably The musicale whie i was just long enough to suit all tastes lasted an hour from 9 till 10 The guests were then ushered to the dining room on the top floor where an elaborate menu was provided The service was of the best throughout The time until 1 oclock was spent in inducting induct-ing the ladies into the various club mysteries ot illliards pool cards showing them through the reading rooms lounging room promenading the halls etc etc Miss Lincoln sang several songs and Miss Hawley and Mr Thompson by urgent request also obliged the company with several enchanting songs The oacasion ended an hour after midnight and the unanimous vote was one of success The new Union club though only a few weeks old is on a firm and prosperous footing and is i steadily growing Its membership Is over one hundred all active names and its list include the representative men of our various buslncs clashs The organization of the club works an era in our social history and speaks strongly of the fast growing feeling in favor of union I harmony and good fellowship and the breaking down of the old bars of last evening by the Denhalters proved a grand success Nearly 2 couples were dancing and a great many spectators graced the occasion The handsome boys in their dashing uniforms made gay the scene The
