Show The California Horses Mr D M Reeves owner of the blooded horses that were on the train which was wrecked at Kelton Saturday morning was registered at the Pacific yesterday Mr Reeves was seen by a HERALD reporter re-porter in the afternoon He did not seem to be the least affected by the mishap to his valuable animals He said the consignment consign-ment was merely the pifckings from his herd which he had prepared for eastern markets Mr Reeves had fortyeight head of horses on the illfated train twentyfive were fillies sired by Monroe Chief who has a two mile record of 446 Nine were fillies from Black Bird who has made a record 222 The others were sired by Steinway four of which were killed and the others seriously injured Thirtytwo of Mr Reeves horses were unloaded and taken to the Grant avenue stables where the injured ones are being recuperated A filly valued at o000 was quite sick from her injuries last evening and it is thought she will die It will probably be several days before the journey eastward can be continued Mr Reeves large stock farm is near Chico Cal and omprises 3000 acres |
