Show The Pacific Railroads Indebtedness Bill I WASHINGTON March 2Senator Frye chairman of the Senate committee on Pacific Pa-cific railroads today reported to the Sen ated and had recommitted a bill for the settlement of the indebtedness to the government gov-ernment of the Union and Central Pacific railroad companies The provisions of the bill in brief are In the case of the Union Pacific company there is an extension of the debt of that company to cover a term of one hundred years to bear interest for the first ten years atig per cent and for the remainder of the period with U per cent In addition the company is to pay an annual an-nual sum ranging from one twentieth of 1 per cent to 1 per cent of its total indebtedness indebted-ness The requirements in the case of the Central Cent-ral Pacific are that its debt shall be extended ex-tended to cover one hundred years bearing interest for the first ten years at 1 per cent and with a provision for additional payments pay-ments as in the case of the Union Pacific |
