Show THE AERUL HOOK AND LADDER A Prospective Valuable Addition to the Fire Department Hobert Ypung representing EB Preston Pres-ton Co of Chicago manufacturers of firo department supplies is in town and before leaving will endeavor to sell the city a Preston aerial hook and ladder truck Mr Young had a model of the truck at the fire department yesterday and explained its workings to a number of members of the city council and citizens The truck is built of steel and iron while T the aerial ladder which is in three sections f is made of wood trussed with steel rods The ladder is raised by means of a screw which is easily operated and when extended ex-tended revolves on a turntable so that it can be thrown in any direction The standard stand-ard height of these ladders is about sixty five feet but Mr Young thinks a city like Salt Lake should have a seventyfive foot ladder The truck complete costs from 3000 to 3500 The apparatus makes a great water break and is conceded to be I the finest aerial ladder in the world In T addition to this the track is provided with a chain extension ladder axes etc and will be a valuable addition to the equipment equip-ment of the lire department The representative of another company is expected hero in a day or two and it is nst unlikely that a public test of the ladders lad-ders will be given |
