Show B Gff The Yeas- i i A J ) JEANETTE DUBACH ! Jeanette Dubaqh, a recent ; graduate from Bountiful High j School, was presented with a I plaque from the University of ! Utah honoring her as "Utah j High School Journalist of the Year." She was selected as one of the most elite and out- ! standing journalists in the j state of Utah. JEANETTE, an energetic blonde who served as Editor-in Editor-in Chief of her school newspaper, news-paper, was also honored as "Staffer of the Year" at a banquet held by the Salt Lake Tribune. The Tribune awarded her with a plaque for her outstanding contributions contribu-tions to her school newspaper staff. "Journalism is a competitive competi-tive and demanding career, but it's also very exciting," says Jeanette who won first place last year and second place this year in the statewide radio broadcast competition sponsored by the University of Utah. SHE HAS not made a firm decision on the newspaper career as she is also interested interest-ed in radio and TV broadcast journalism. During the past school year she has produced her own radio program for sale to a local radio station. She also represented Bountiful Boun-tiful High in the Sterling Scholar competition in which she came away with $100 and the runner-up title in the foreign language division. She speaks Spanish and German and hopes to use the languages in her career. '1 PLAN to attend the U. of U. on a language scholarship," says Jeanette. "I hope to carry a double major in communications and languages. Journalists with language skills are in demand and the knowledge of several languages will put me a step ahead." Besides serving as editor of 'The Brave," the Bountiful High student newspaper, she has also served as Spanish Club and German Club president. She has been enrolled in several advanced placement classes and graduated from Bountiful High with honors. Her goal? "If I am going to do something, I plan on going all the way. 1 think anything is attainable if you push hard enough." With a smile and a twinkle in her blue eyes she added, "I have to admit I'd settle for a job as an anchor-woman anchor-woman for CBS or perhaps a foreign correspondent for 'Times" magazine." JEANETTE IS the daughter of Marcel and Charlotte Dubach of 270 East 200 North, Bountiful. |
