Coach Shon-dell Shon-dell Knowlton and Mike Boyle are seeing a lot of enthusiastic enthusias-tic youngsters who are eager to begin learning, and many who are advancing on in their gymnastic program. AS THIS program begins its third year at Bountiful High Jennifer Larsen of the Utah Aerials shows her flexibility. School, we can see the tremendous growth of the Utah Aerials. The Aerials class III team had an excellent ex-cellent year in competition raising to capture the second place trophy at the USGF Utah State competition in December. Individual hono brought home were State Ail-Around Champion, Stacey Green, achieving the highest all-around all-around score in the competition; competi-tion; State Vaulting Champion Cham-pion 9-11, Elizabeth Tayler; and State Bar Champion 12-14. Sydney Little. CLASS II Aerials Kathy Lowe and Neisha Green were unable to complete the entire season. Kathy broke her foot keeping her out of competition competi-tion for several months and Neisha sustained a severe ankle injury in the final qualifying meet in Ogden, with her foot too in a cast, she was eliminated from state competition. However, they are both back in action and are looking forward to a new season. Joining them are the new members of the Class II Aerials, Elizabeth Tayler, Stacey Green, Cory Conkle, Sydney Little, Tracey Swen- sen and Jennifer Larsen. THESE gymnasts are working hard learning new routines and more difficult tricks for their upcoming competitions. They held their first inter-squad meet in April. It was very exciting to see the advancement of these young girls. Neisha Green was excited to win first Ail-Around, after having recovered from her ankle injury. Gymnasts making the Class III team at tryouts were Paula Rydalch, Lorinda Francais. Denise Er-canbrack, Er-canbrack, Janelle Smith, Holly Richins, Nancy Whi-tear, Whi-tear, Jina Sonone, Lis Grand-staff. Grand-staff. Peggy Grandstaff and Karen Park. THE AERIALS are looking forward to their trip to Denver in August, where they will compete against several Denver teams for three days. Upon their return, they will enter a week of extensive training in their clinic workshop. These long days of hard work will prepare them for their new season of competition. CLASS enrollments are being be-ing taken at Bountiful High. |
