Show Guy SMI And Larry Bp ! Iload To Pro Football Camps By DAVE WIGHAM BOUNTIFUL - Two local athletes will be giving it their all over the next two or three months in an effort to become the first professional football players from their respective high schools. GUY MORRELL and Larry Miller will both be reporting to rookie camps at different National Football League clubs later in the summer to try to make the 40-man roster on the clubs. Guy will be going to San Diego as a free agent while Larry is headed for St. Louis, the club that drafted him a month ago in the NFL players draft. Larry was picked in the eighth round by the Cardinals. Car-dinals. BOTH HAD outstanding high school careers with Guy at Viewmont and Larry at Bountiful. Each played in all three sports, football, basketball basket-ball and baseball. In high school, Guy earned his reputation repu-tation in football and baseball while Larry was known more for his basketball and baseball than he was for football. foot-ball. After being rivals in high school, they became even greater rivals in college with Guy going to the University of Utah and Larry went south to BYU. MORRELL TURNED into a great linebacker for the Utes being in the top four each year in defensive points. He was considered quick and an extremely hard hitter. He was a three year starter for Utah and caught the eyes of the pros as a junior. Miller might well be the surprise of the century in that not many thought he would make it in college football. When he graduated from Bountiful he weighed right around 185 pounds, but after a lot of dedicated work in the weight room he is up around 220 pounds now. A three year starter, Larry capped off his career by earning all-Conference all-Conference honors as a senior. BOTH ARE realistic about their future in the NFL. Guy noted that the Chargers have a good linebacking corps right now and that being a free agent has its drawbacks, but in his own words, "I'll do my best and if I don't make it at San Diego maybe some other club will pick me up." Several clubs did contact Guy after the draft so they are aware of his talent. LARRY HAS just returned from a mini-camp for the rookies in St. Louis and he too is honest. "There were two i us at linebacker that m drafted and six free agenu It's going to be tough buiita play a 3-4 defensive sysiem they need a few linebacker! Knowing both of them and the dedication they hare, ft going to be a few more jtars yet until they hang up ttt helmets.
