Show Vol Verda By MARY LAND EN Last Sunday's Special . Interest Fireside featured a special musical program with songs from "Saturday's Warrior" and "My Turn On Earth." Soloists Sylvia Bishop and Miriam Massey were accompainied by Cheryll Dygert. Narrator was Bern ice Smith. There was also al-so a talk by Bishop Richard Wells. We miss the Bill Storey family who moved from the duplexes at 3371 South 50 West to Granger recently. Bill, an executive with Mas-terCharge Mas-terCharge at Tracy Collins Bank, has two children, Michelle and Billy. A Cancer Clinic will be held at the Val Verda Stake House on June 18. Advanced appointments ap-pointments are necessary. Call 533-6711 Elizabeth Isaakson, a schoolteacher who has been rooming with teacher Cindy Wilson, has gone home to Colorado for the summer. Cindy is planning a wedding on June 28 to Tim Toone, son of Ron and Jeannette Toone. When Elizabeth returns to Utah in the fall, she will return re-turn to Granger which is closer to where she teaches. Charlie and Flossie Walker are back with tans from a week in the Bahamas. He won the vacation for two in his work in the carpet business. Young Adults from VV Seventh Ward visited last week, with songs and friendship, in a couple of local nursing homes Pappy's and the Bountiful Convalescent Center. The Young Adults also attended at-tended an area wide fireside last Sunday at the Salt Lake Tabernacle with Neal Maxwell Max-well speaking. A Court of Honor was held last week in the Val Verda Seventh Ward for Troop No. 767. There were 40 merit badges awarded, as well as the following rank advancements ad-vancements : New Tenderfoot Scouts are Greg Hansen, Lee Watson and Brad Phister. Star Scouts are Andy Pearce and Kevin Cullimore. Life Rank certificate went to Randy Layton. A "Knot for the Right Hand Pocket," a religious award, was presented to Kevin Cullimore and Mike Paxman. Plans were announced for summer camp on June 18-23. The camp will be closer to home in deference to the gas shortage, at North Hollow by Millcreek Pass. There will be 15 merit badges, many of them required, worked on at the camp. "Kids Kreative Day" will be featured in the Orchard Seventh Ward Relief Society on June 7 for kids eight years and up. Activities will include fabric crayon painting, painting paint-ing pictures on chinawear, rock art, tying baby quilts, pattern exchange, and exercises. exer-cises. "Physical Fitness Day" in the VV Tenth Ward was a tremendous success. Diane Gibbs started the morning with a lesson on "Caring For What We Have." Then Jo and Lyle Mason got us all excited about an aerobic physical fitness fit-ness program. They are marvelous mar-velous examples of what it can do for you. In the cultural hall Judy Mcintosh's nursery school children did exercises to a record. Dani Avalos is in charge of the "walkers" who meet every a.m. at 8: 15 on Bountiful Blvd. Some move more spritely than others and are more consistent, but it's a great way to start the morning morn-ing in good company. Joggers meet at the church and make their laps around the cultural hall under the direction of Beth Nordfors. Tennis groups meet Mon- days at the Town and Country Racquet Club. About 20 golf enthusiasts under the direction direc-tion of Melanie Romeril meet Friday mornings for six lessons les-sons at the Bountiful Golf Course. There was an open house in honor of John H. Wood, Sr's 80th birthday at the Camelot Club House. His children hosted the event. Priests of the VV Second Ward had a "Pizza Push," ' selling pizzas for their fund raising and for their super activity. The Robert Bagley family has moved into the former McPhail home at 691 West 3200 South, directly across the street from Bishop Bace's. Bob was the 10th of 11 children in his family. He was born in Boring, Ore. on Halloween. He works now for the LDS Church as an administrator ad-ministrator with welfare -personnel. He is in charge of employee benefits, general overseer and trainer. Nadine was born in Long-view, Long-view, Wash, and raised in Portland. She gives piano lessons in her home. They have four boys of their own and have helped to raise a couple of girls. Their son Dean lives in Murray, while George and Doug are both married, working and going to school. Scott just graduated from Woods Cross High School. A special youth fireside was held for Val Verda youth at the stake house. Vaughn Featherstone was the speaker. The Elders Quorum of VV Second Ward had a potluck and square dance. They are also involved in a power raking project. The last month brought with it quite a few activities for the young women of the VV Tenth Ward. They went roller-skating, even some of the adult leaders put on skates and rolled around the Rustic Rink. The evening ended with an ice cream . treat. . The MIA Maids had a stake activity with their mothers. -They enjoyed a fashion show :-and :-and a demonstration on cut- ting and styling hair, followed , by a luncheon. Ray Briscoe visited the... Tenth Ward to deliver several : stake awards. The teachers . won the stake basketball . championship this past : season, Joey Tibbitts and Russ Newbould were selected for the all-star team for their respective groups. Most of the youth went to , the Sports Mall and played ell " night long. Activities includ- ed swimming, tennis, racquet ball and the use of the exer- . cise room. The group stopped V for breakfast before heading home about 5: 30 a.m. The Memorial Day holiday ' weekend saw several comings y and goings In the area. The j Tenth Ward super activity to ; Lake Powell began with a J bike ride, riding part of the - way. Those biking were " transported part of the way to ':" the Fish Lake summit, and they blked from there to Bullfrog. The rest-of the T group followed the next day in ; cars. There have been many vlsl-tors vlsl-tors in the area to share in the ' ' graduation festivities of Woods Cross High School, and the holiday weekend. Catherine Landen's grand- parents Wesley and Miriam Landen, Sr. from San Ber-nardino Ber-nardino were visiting with a ' cousin, Cindy Henricks, and -her two young daughters. The Val Verda Ninth Ward'f MIA held another successful ' mini-marathon race (two 4 miles). The highlight of the -event was a Bernina T-shirt "j-with "j-with the scripture "Run and -not be weary, walk and not 4 faint" printed on the back. . -After the race a picnic was -enjoyed at Mueller Park.": Glen Bronion had the ben i. time of the day.
