THE VERSES from the Old Testament have the key for the ingredients. The class came up with a recipe which makes a fruity type of cake. Anyone might try checking the references refer-ences listed below, to find just what the Bible does refer to. In the case of the figs which are called for, you may use dry apricots or other dry fruit. SCRIPTURE CAKE Psalms, 55:21 1-Kings, 4:22 Leviticus, 2:13 l-Samuel, 30:12 Jeremiah. 6:20 Luke, 12:21 New Testament Genesis, 24: 1 1 l-Samuel, 30:12 Isaiah, 10:14 1-Kings, 10:10 Proverbs, 24:13 Genesis, 43: 1 1 SCRIPTURE CAKE Vi cup butter or margarine. 1 ': cups sugar 3 eggs separated 'A cup water 1 Tbs. honey V: tsp. soda l'i tsp. baking powder tsp. salt ': tsp. each cinnamon, cloves, mace or nutmeg 2'.': cups flour I cup figs or other dry fruit 1 cup raisins ': cup nuts 2 Tbs. flour over fruit FIRST PUT fruit and nuts through food chopper or chop fine, mixing with the 2 Tbs. flour, then set aside. Separate eggs and beat w hites stiff, gradually gra-dually adding 3 Tbs. of the sugar to help hold whites stiff; when they hold a peak, but not dry, set aside. Cream shortening shorten-ing w ith sugar until fluffy, beat in the egg yolks and honey. Measure flour w ith soda, baking bak-ing powder, salt and spices and add aternately with water, beating or stirring until smooth. Fold in carefully the egg whites until smooth and blended. Pour into a pan about 8x12 inches and bake at 325 degrees about one hour or until it tests done. Cool and frost w ith your favorite icing or a cream cheese frosting. een a hot sauce.
