He explained fur.her that he has been active in genera! contracting con-tracting for 28 vears and has used the building fc-r storage and light fabricatir.2 in more recent years. COUNCILMAN Dewel! voiced his opinion that Mr. Salmon was indeed "manufacturing" "manufac-turing" not fabricating building build-ing materials. Dew ell then cited the complaints com-plaints of citizens towards Mr. Salmon: 1. an addition to the sorage shed, and expansion of business without a business license; 2. the building was not used as a business prior to the addition of the shed; 3. the -property is not zoned for business: 4. the use of a business busi-ness phone at that address. THE COUNCIL pointed out that if these complaints are proved valid the business must be discontinued. Dewell informed in-formed Mr. Salmon that in a case such as his business, a M-D M-D zone (light manufacturing) is required for operation. Councilman Allman stated that it is the responsibility of the city council to pursue every ev-ery complaint by a citizen to investigate unlawful activity. If no law is being broken the complaint is dismissed. If there is a violation of city law, the council then must take action. ac-tion. COUNCILMAN Edmonds voiced an agreement with All-man All-man clarifying that the council was in no position to make a decision concerning Mr. Salmon. Sal-mon. The decision must now be made by the city attorney regarding possible court action. ac-tion. Mr. Salmon asserted that many other similar small businesses are in operation in non-business zones in West Bountiful. Allman reiterated that the council is not seai' ching for -law violations, just i investigating citizens' complaints. com-plaints. Mr. Salmon informed 1 the council that he is attempting attemp-ting to purchase another lot for his operation in a business ) zoned area in West Bountiful I or possibly Bountiful. i DON ELLIOTT, represent- ing the Elks Lodge, then came cr-en an extra htr cn N;-Y N;-Y ear's Eve.
