Dean Brand sent his son Mark to a local lumber yard to pick up 250 sign stakes he had ordered. or-dered. The stakes were gone. The salesman said they had been picked up earlier by Mr. Brand. It seems that Rex Strand had gone to the same lumberyard to buy a few stakes. The lumberyard had insisted he take the whole 250 of them because he had ordered or-dered them. REX STRAND said he kept saying, "That's not my wood," but no one would believe him. Mr. Strand ended end-ed up with more stakes than he wanted and all were the wrong size. Mr. Brand did not have the stakes he ordered. Rex Strand hired a hot-air balloon for advertising purposes. pur-poses. The balloon landed in a pasture. Several people called Dean Brand to tell him his name had been spelled wrong. BOTH candidates use mobile motor homes for their headquarters. Voters wander into the wrong headquarters and ask for the other candidate. can-didate.
