Show Local News Items . . . Dr. D. Elden Beck of the B.Y.U. spent last Thursday and Friday in St. George kodaking old homes and places of interest to include in his collection of pioneer memories. ' Dewey F. Kemp and Wells Meeks of Salt Lake City, accompanying ac-companying Mr. Kemp's cousin, Kenneth Snow, of Los Angeles, visited in St. George with friends over Saturday. Mr. Snow is en-route en-route home from Chicago and Detroit. Mrs. George Emmett of Richfield Rich-field is visiting this week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Cottam, on her way home from spending two weeks with her daughters, Ruth and Elaine. Bp. and Mrs. A. K. Hafen and family spent last Friday in Zion National Park where they celebrated cele-brated the birthday anniversary of their daughter, Ada, who is employed at the park for the summer. Gayneld Mackleprang, Sheldon Brown, Neil Adams and Art Ryder were St. George visitors from Kanab over Saturday. Miss LaRue Cox has returned from teaching in Provo during the past year. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Larkrn and family attended the L.D.S. conference in Salt Lake City over the week end, and visited relatives rela-tives in Brigham City. President and Mrs. Glenn E. Snow and family left Friday for Provo, where Mr. Snow will be an instructor during the first six weeks of summer school at the "Y". Attending L.D.S. conference representing the recreational division divi-sion of the M.I.A. were Marion Woodard, Shirley Harper, D. C. Watson, Mary Lou Wells, Ber-neice Ber-neice Miles, Murray Webb and Donald Leavitt. These young people participated in the dance festival at Saltair as part of the program. Andrew Holt of Gunlock was in St. George on business Monday night. Ann Nielsen and Floy Neilson moved to Washington last Saturday, Satur-day, where they have opened a cafe. Miss Verna Shumway entertained enter-tained the W. S. S. club at her home on Thursday evening. A light luncheon was served and it is reported that everybody had an enjoyable time. A meeting of the Tru-Sewers' club was held on Tuesday at the home of Rena Nielsen. The evening eve-ning was spent in sewing and visiting after which ice cream and cookies were served to the group. Mrs. Lawrence Higbee and her two sons, Billy and Harold, of Las Vegas, are spending a few days in St. George visiting with friends. Mr. Higbee will be remembered re-membered here as Ruth Cook, formerly employed at J. C. Penney"s. Mrs. Clifford Gerard and daughter, daugh-ter, Nancy, arrived Sunday evening eve-ning from Salt Lake City to visit Mrs. Gerard's mother, Mrs. Lottie R. Carter and her sister. Miss Ellen Carter. They will also visit in Hurricane with Mr. and Mrs. Ether Wood and family. Ralph McAllister of Salina returned home Thursday after spending a few days here visiting his mother, Mrs. Agatha McAllister. Mc-Allister. Lee and Lorraine Cox returned Monday from their mine at Copper Cop-per Mountain in Arizona where they spent the past two weeks working. St. George visitors at the Southern California and Nevada Beauty Operators' convention in Las Vegas Friday night were Mrs. Jetta Snow, Rose Leavitt, and Doris Atkin of the Vogue Beauty Parlor. Accompanying them were Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Snow and Creston Woodard. The convention was sponsored by the Peerless Beauty Parlor and Supply company and was held at the Apache Hotel in Las Vegas bn I j" Friday night at 8 o'clock. I |
