Show Testimonial Meeting Held For Creston Woodard, Who Leaves For Mission Sponsored by a neighborhood committee under direction of the south ward bishopric, members of the south ward and student friends joined Wednesday evening in honoring Creston Woodard, former Dixie college student body president and honor student, who leaves today (Thursday) for Salt Lake City to enter the L.D.S. mission home, preparatory to leaving for the Spanish-American mission field, where he is to labor the ensuing two years. Bishop's Counselor George Brooks was in charge of the program pro-gram which included three vocal selections by the Morris family, directed by Wm. T. Morris Jr., a reading by the missionary's sister, Miss Marian Woodard, short talks by Harold S. Snow, stake president, and B. Glen Smith, instructor of the Dixie junior college, toast to the missionary, mis-sionary, by Mabel Jarvis, response re-sponse by the missionary and his mother, Mrs. D. Wilson Woodard, closing remarks by Counselor Brooks and congregational singing of "We Thank Thee, O God, For a Prophet". Prayers were by B. Jarvis and Jesse Short. Following the program, refreshments refresh-ments were served in the chapel dining hall after which dancing ensued until midnight, with music furnished by Stanley Schmutz and his "Top Hats". |
