Show SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 24. An ordinance ordi-nance compelling the wearing of gauze masks by every person in San Francisco as a means of preventing the spread of the influenza epidemic, was passed today to-day by the board of supervisors at the request re-quest of the board of heabn. Penalties for violation are fines ranging from $5 to 1100, or ten days' imprisonment, or both fine and imprisonment. The ordinance is immediately effective. Masks may be & discarded only in homes or during meal times. The total number of cases of Spanish ff influenza in California passed 50.000 today, to-day, it was announced by the state board of health. |
