Show B.-P. W. Club Sells Over $100 In Defense Stamps At Party Wed. At the annual Public Affairs party, under the direction of the public affairs committee and the publicity pub-licity committee, held Wednesday, Feb. 18, in the McQuarrie Memorial Me-morial hall the Business and Professional Pro-fessional Women's club succeeded in selling $103.50 in Defense Stamps. The committee, instead of having the usual dinner, adopted adop-ted as their theme for the evening eve-ning the slogan of the B.-P. W., "Buying Defense Stamps". The meeting which was under the direction of Mrs. Ann R. Price, Mrs. Edith Milne and Mrs. Beth Schmutz assisted by Miss Virginia McArthur, Roma Snow, Rhoda Cannon and Marie Knell, was as follows: Opens Meeting The opening of the meeting was by Pres. Kate B. Empey, who took charge of the introducing of the guests of the evening. Club Party (Continued from first page) bers: Vocal solo, "Medley of War Songs", Marion Bowler, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. George Jay; talk, "Our Five-Point Program", Miss Linda Larson, educational director of the Utah State Federation; vocal solo, "Love Sends A Little Gift of Roses", Royden Braithwaite, Braith-waite, Institute director, accompanied accom-panied by Miss VerNell Chamberlain; Chamber-lain; talk, "Training for Defense", Miss Luetta Imlay; vocal solo "By the Bend of the River", Miss Margaret Jones, accompanied by Miss Ruth Falck. The concluding speaker was Dr. Billie Hollingshead, instructor at the B. Y. U., who was introduced by Mrs. Beth Schmutz. Dr. Hollingshead Hol-lingshead was especially invited for the occasion to talk on, "Women In Defense". She includ ed in her speech interesting per-sonal per-sonal experiences she had while learning to fly, and told of the many openings there are for ; women in defense. The program ended with a skit by Mrs. Edith Milne, Mrs. Verda Pace, Miss Virginia McArthur and Miss Roma Snow, accompanied by Miss Ruth Falck, preceding the selling of the $103.50 worth o( Defense Stamps. Ashby of the St. George C. of C; President Presi-dent W. B. Mathis of the Rota club; Mr. and Mrs. Leo A. Sik of the Athena club and Mrs. Herman Larkin of the Dixie Reviewers. |
