Show T Two Men Die In Car Accident On 91 In Nevada Funeral Services Held In Mesquite Sunday Afternoon In Chapel BUNKERVILLE, Nev. Two men were killed and three injured in an automobile accident which oc-urred oc-urred thirty miles north of Las Vegas on Highway 91 at 7:30 p. m., last Thursday. The dead are: Smith Leavitt, 29, of Bunkerville, who suffered a broken neck and fractured skull and died a few hours after the accident, and Lister Hardy, 35, of Mesquite, who suffered a fractured frac-tured back and died about 8 a. m., Friday. Both men were employed at Boulder Dam. The injured are Elwood Hardy of Bunkerville, who suffered back injuries, but no fractures, and his condition is not considered serious; Mickey Thomas of Boulder City, driver of the car, who sustained a bad fracture of the leg; Vernon Holtrey of Boulder City, who suffered suf-fered cuts and bruises, the least hurt of the five men. The car in which the men were traveling toward Bunkerville was on the wrong side of the road, making the wide turn toward the second railroad underpass north of Las Vegas, with Thomas driving. driv-ing. The car hit a small marker at the left of the highway, leaped a 10-foot bank and landed 35 feet below, according to the report re-port of Under Sheriff Glen Jones and Deputy D. G. Lawrence, who investigated the crash. The opening song was "Tho Deepening Trials", by both Bunkerville Bun-kerville and Mesquite choirs. Prayer Pray-er was offered by Kenneth O. Earl. Song by choir, "How Gentle God's Commands". Fielding Hardy Pres. Bryan Bunker of Las Vegas, Bishop Henry Bowler of Gunlock, Bishop Max Hafen, and Bishop Donald Tobler of Bunkerville were the speakers. The Singing Mothers from Bunkerville and a Ladies' trio from Mesquite sang special numbers. Arthur Hughes offered the closing prayer. L. Smith Leavitt is survived by his wife, Laura Bowler Leavitt and two small sons, his mother, Mary Ellen Leavitt and the following fol-lowing brothers and sisters: Elmer Leavitt, Mrs. Olive Hardy of Bunkerville, Mrs. Tobler and Mrs. Sara Barnum of Mesquite, Mrs. Veda Cox and Elfonda Horsley of Las Vegas and Mrs. Betty Sprague and Mrs. Gladys Felt of Overton. Lister Hardy is survived by his wife, Mable Leavitt Hardy and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. 'Charles Hardy and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Nevada Pulsipher, Pulsi-pher, Leo Hardy, Heber Hardy, Mark Hardy, Mrs. Vonda Wilson of Mesquite, Alf Hardy of Las Vegas and Mrs. Orpha Woods of Ensign. |
