' "'xy fr " 1 f ' k "v:-- : Mr. and Mrs. Farlin Wood, who were married September 24, in the Salt Lake Temple, and who were honored the following evening with a reception in the Fourth ward hall. Mrs. Wood is the former for-mer Miss Betty Harmon. y Couple Wed In Temple, Honored At Reception A lovely wedding of the early fall season was that of Miss Betty Harmon, niece of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar S. Best, and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Best, of this city. She became the bride of Farlin Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Solan. A. Wood of Springville, in a ceremony performed in the Salt Lake temple, September 24. The evening after 1 their marriage, mar-riage, the young couple received their many relatives and friends in a reception in the Fourth ward hall. The couple stood before a flower-banked fireplace, with tall burning tapers on either side. Attired in a traditional white satin wedding gown entrain, the bride was lovely with finger-tip veil of silk net arranged with a crown of seed pearls and lace. Her gown was also trimmed in lace and insertion, with long, sleeves and sweetheart neckline. She carried a single orchid on a white satin Bible. Attending the bride as matron of honor was Mrs. Relia B. Hen-strom Hen-strom of Salt Lake City. Miss Cree Allred and Barbara Hall were bridesmaids. They were all attired in pastel colored formals and carried charming little nosegays nose-gays in corresponding colors. Jack Collett did . best man duties for the bridegroom. Others in the receiving line included: in-cluded: Mr. and Mrs. Solan A. reading, Mrs. Wm. Schreiner; reading, Miss Carol Jean Clark; a toast to the bride, Jack Collett. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Straw and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Robertson were acting host and hostess during dur-ing the evening. Arranging the gifts were Mrs. Lucille Booke of Provo, Mrs. Evelyn Eve-lyn Walker, Mrs. Mary Strong and Mrs. Margaret Rideout of Salt Lake City, assisted by Ruth, Jean and Dick Benstrom and Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Best, and Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Best. The ladies wore black formals with corsages of gardenias. Little Mary Best was flower girl and dressed in a blue and gold colored formal, carried a tiny basket of chrysanthemums. Richard Haglund acted as master mas-ter of ceremonies, and Gordon Childs and Douglas Childs played the wedding march. The program of the evening included: Vocal solo, Mrs. Mary B. Strong of Salt Lake City; violin and piano numbers, num-bers, Gordon and Douglas Childs; vocal solo, Miss Elaine Jones; Phyllis Hall. Refreshments were served under un-der direction of Mrs. Rufus Averett. Aver-ett. Mrs. Lona Warner and Mrs. Charles Sundbloom assisted by the Misses Carol Jean Clark, Jane Cherrington, Ann Whiting, Max-ine Max-ine Eves, Thelma Waters, Nila Ruth Tingey and Beverly Hay-mond. Hay-mond. The entertaining rooms were beautifully decorated for the wedding wed-ding with floral arrangements in orchid and white. The same colors were carried out in artistic manner man-ner in all other details, including a beautiful 3-tiered wedding cake and floral centerpiece which decorated de-corated the serving table. Mr. and Mrs. Wood are making their home in Provo, where Mr. Wood will continue his studies at the Brigham Young university. |
