Show SOCIETY Jusl-A-Mere Club Wednesday evening, August 7 the members of Just-A-Mere and their husbands enjoyed a weiner roast and watermelon bust at the Walkup Camp in Uinta Canyon. Following supper twenty-one guests and members enjoyed a song-fest and games around the campf ire. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Grant Killian, Reva Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Wil-kens, Wil-kens, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Larsen Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jensen, Mr. and Mrs Reuben Larsen, Mr. and Mrs. Tom White, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Wardell, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Labrum. Bridgeite Bouquets of sweet peas formed form-ed the decorations when Mrs. Jack Mohlman entertained her bridge club Thursday evening, August 8. A tempting dessert luncheon was served to twelve guests including Mrs. Mar Vel Nelson. Mrs. Elmer Eldredge, Mrs. Gordon Harmston. Mrs. Steve Bcllon, Mrs. Ned Bellon, Mrs. Johnnie Cook, Mrs. Clem Labrum, Mrs. Orson Stevens, Mrs. Jack Hoover. Mrs. Elbert Curtis, and-Miss Marilyn Whit-more. Whit-more. Following luncheon three tables were arranged for bridge. Federated Women's Clubs Meet At Vernal Representatives of the Uintah Basin District Federation of Women's Clubs met in Vernal for luncheon at the residence of Mrs. Charles Henderson. Newly affiliated with the group is the Fort Duchesne Women's Club of sixty members. Plans were discussed for activities ac-tivities for the coming year and a calendar of events formulated. Representatives from Roosevelt included Mrs. Gordon Harmston, 3rd district vice president; Mrs. Clifton Laris, district treasurer; Mrs. Ellen Rawlings. chairman of the district Penny Art's Fund; Mrs. Clem Labrum, president of the Roosevelt Jr. Social Culture Club and Mrs. Steve Bellon, vice president of the Jr. Social Culture Club. frraa niiiir'asaiaggsrsrjy Pett - Preece Nuptials Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Pett, of Salt Lake City, former residents of Roosevelt, announce the marriage mar-riage of their daughter. Colleen, to William Roland Preece, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Preece, of Myton. The young couple were united in a double ring ceremony performed July 30 at the Logan L, D. S. Temple. The bride was striking in a beautiful satin brocaded taffeta dress. Her wedding veil was presented pre-sented to her by a pen pal in England whose fiance was killed in action just two days before their wedding date. The young couple were accompanied accom-panied to the Temple by the bride's mother and by the bridegroom's bride-groom's parents. On leaving the Temple the bride wore a beautiful white embroidered em-broidered street dress accented by a corsage of red roses and forget-me-nots. Mrs. Preece is a graduate of the Roosevelt high school and of the Roosevelt seminary. She also attended the B. Y. U. at Provo. Mr. Preece spent 2Vfc years in the Navy, enlisting just prior to bis graduation from thr Roosp- velt high school. He served aboard the famous USS York-town, York-town, better known as the "Fighting Lady." In the Navy he followed his boyhood hobby and became an electrician 1-c. . Mr. and Mrs. Preece left Salt Lake August 1 via Western Air Lines on an eight day wedding trip to Glacier National Park and through Canada. Upon their return they will visit relatives and friends in the Uintah Basin and then will make their home in San Francisco where Mr. Preece has employment with the telephone company. Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. M. Y. Mitchell, of Roosevelt, announce the engagement en-gagement and forthcoming marriage mar-riage of their daughter, Ida Merle, to Mr. Clark V. Frand-sen, Frand-sen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernal Frandsen of Ioka. The marriage will take place August 15 at the home of the bride's parents. maim. qjj 1 ;"M i i m..nreasa |
