Show Death Of LeRoi Jones Is Shock The community was greatly shocked to hear of the death of Dr. LeRoi Jones, of Logan. Mrs. Jones is the former Gwerv dolyn Wiscombe, daughter of j Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiscombe, , and was born and raised in Ballard. Bal-lard. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Jones and family. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Taylor and family, of Randlett, called at the E. C. Coston home on November 11. H. V. Timothy, of Vernal, has been installing storm windows and doors on the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gardner. Glen Womack, of Provo' spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Womack. Alden White and Bishop Perry, Per-ry, of the- Moffat ward were speakers in Sacrament meeting Sunday evening. Nov. 11. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Young and four children, who have been living in Van Nuys, California, have moved back to the Uinta Basin. They have been at the home of Mrs. Young's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Coston during dur-ing the week, but are going to live in Roosevelt. Mrs. Erna Stolla entertained a group of small children at the chapel Tuesday afternoon in honor hon-or of the birthday of her grand daughter, Phyllis. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dudley and daughter, Veda, of Jensen, were visitors recently at the home of Mr. Dudley's sister, Mrs. Jesse Butcher. Little Max Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cook, is improving improv-ing and should soon be able to leave the hospital, where he has been confined for about ten days. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Neilson, of Chico, California, are now at the home of Mrs. Neilson's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Asay. Their small daughter has been staying with her grandparents for some tune. During the past week, quite a number of the mothers have visited school at Alterra, and on Friday afternoon some fathers fath-ers were in attendance. Mrs. Ora Coston, of the Alterra Al-terra lunch room, with her assistants, Mrs. Velma Winn and Margie Robb, drove to Avalon Wednesday afternoon to assist in preparing school menus there for the month. Jesse Hullinger attended a teacher's institute at Price last Thursday and Friday. Announcement is made that the regular square dance will be held Friday night instead of Thursday, it being Thanksgiving. Thanks-giving. R. L. Nielson, of Roosevelt, visited the Ballard Ward Sunday Sun-day School this week. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shisler visited in Vernal one day last week with Mr. Shisler's sister, Mrs. Straussie Birchell. Our congratulations to Miss Marie Eldredge, who won second sec-ond place in the contest held at Vernal last week. - She will now enter the state contest in Salt Lake City on Nov. 26. Barbara Bar-bara Hullinger, another Ballard girl, who modeled a coat she had made, won $15.00, and Lela Mitchell, ' of Independence, won $10.00 |
