Show FUSION PLAN INDORSED. Democrats and Progressives of Utah Unite on Ticket. Salt Lake City. James H. Moyle of Salt Lake was unanimously named by both the Democratic and Progressive state conventions as the candidate of the allied parties for the United States senate. Backed by the Democrats Demo-crats and Progressives of the sate, Mr. Moyle will oppose Senator Reed Smoot in the first direct election for United States senator ever held in Utah. For justice of the supreme court, Frank B. Stephens was nominated by acclamation by both conventions. Dr. E. G. Gowans, superintendent of the state industrial school, was also named practically without opposition. For congressman, Lewis Larson of Manti was namde by acclamation by both conventions for the first district, while in the second district James H. Mays of Salt Lake county won the nomination in the Progressive convention con-vention after an interesting contest with Stephen H. Love of Salt Lake. |
