Show Patrol activities keep members busy The Iron County Sheriff's Jeep Patrol has been extremely extreme-ly active the past two months and that along with the "Jeep Convention Jitters" has meant increased and frantic etforts in planning and organization. The Iron County unit will host the National Convention of Search and Rescue organ izations in June and committee commit-tee chairmen are busy getting the program rolling along for the big event. In addition the unit has been Involved in a series of other activities, according to their recent report. Recently they participated in a search program for a F-lll jet of the United States Air Forces reported re-ported missing from Nellis AFB near Las Vegas, Nev.. A direct request for help was received re-ceived from Nellis authorities and two of the Patrol mem- bers, George Connell and Adrian Ad-rian Baldwin were kept busy on a search for ten hours in an area 40 miles west of Pan-aca, Pan-aca, Nev. In early February members of the unit were requested by the Sheriff to assist the Cedar City Police Department in maintaining order during and after the Cedar-Dixie basketball basket-ball game. The resignation of popular Patrol member Ralph Orton was accepted at the meeting and two new applicants, applic-ants, Frank Whipple and David Brancroft were accepted. accept-ed. They will serve as probationary proba-tionary members for three months. All members of the Patrol were encouraged to plan attendance at-tendance at the National Convention Con-vention in support of the unit. |
