Show Joseph Fakler, Active Civic Leader dies in Salt Lake City; Honored at Services Beiderman on Nov. 21, 1931 in Salt Lake City. He was educated in Ogden City schools and attended Weber State College. He is survived by his widow, of Salt Lake City; two daughters, Mrs. Peter K. (Gerry) Leigh of Cedar City and Mrs. Sheldon (Martha) Hefner of Moab; one brother Peter F. Fakler of Provo; and eight grandchildren grand-children and 7 great grandchildren. grand-children. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 22, 1978 at 12 noon in the Cedar City Rock Church. The family prayer was offered by Sheldon Hefner with Belle Jones playing the prelude, postlude music and Pres. Gail Duncan conducted the services. Musical Selections consisted of a soprano solo by Christine Winterrose "Ave Marie", acc. by Janet Knell ; a tenor solo by Ralph Hafen "0 My Father" acc. by Janet Knell; and a vocal solo by Vernon Erb "Because He Lives" acc. by Fran Townsend. Remarks were given by President Gail Duncan, a talk was given by S.L.C. Commissioner Com-missioner Jennings Phillips, a tribute was given by S.L.C. Mayor Ted Wilson and a talk was given by Bishop Homer Jones.- The Invocation was given by Rev. Ronnie Parker with Brad Biederman giving the benediction and Harvey Davneport dedicated the grave.. The BPOE 1556 rendered Elks graveside services.. Interment was in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary. Salt Lake City Treasurer Joseph L. Fakler 69, died Thursday Jan. 18, 1979 from a heart attack in Salt Lake City. Mr. Fakler succeeded Commissioner Phillips as city treasurer in Jan. of 1972. Prior to that he was chief deputy county treasurer for six years. From 1961 to 1971 he was an accountant and comptroller comp-troller for United Technical Industries in Murray. For five years prior he served in the same capacity for Western Gold and Uranium Company in Grand Canyon, Ariz. From 1943-1956 he lived in Cedar City where he was city commissioner. During that time he was the recipient of the Utah Outstanding Out-standing Young Citizen's award. He also wnrkpH for thp Union Pacific Railroad for 14 years and was president of their Junior Old Timer's Club. He was a member of JOSEPH F. FAKLER the Ambassador Club, the National Association of Accountants and the Elks Lodge. Mr. Fakler was born on June 6, 1909, in Ogden, to Joseph and Rosa Dreyer Fakler. He married Lucille |
