Show Lions Club planning for Birthday Calendar campaign At a meeting of the Parowan Paro-wan Lions Club, held Tuesday Tues-day evening, several matters fo business were taken care of and others were considered according to Eugene Robb. The first of these was the organization of the club for the annual Birthday Calendar Drive. This is an annual fund raising project of the club by which it raises funds to carry on the community projects sponsored annually by the organization. or-ganization. We might add that the annual Christmas lighting project is one of the most prominent of these. The area covered by the-club the-club in this project is Parowan Paro-wan and Paragonah and the two communities were divided into districts by the club officers, of-ficers, and a chairman named for each division, Mr. Robb states. The districts and chairmen chair-men are as follows: Northest Parowan, Osmer Nielsen; Southeast Parowan, Jim Fare; Southwest Parowan, Wimmer Mortensen; Northwest North-west Parowan, Max Dalley; Paragonah east of Highway 91, Robert Miller, and Paragonah, Para-gonah, west of the highway, Ramon Bentley. It was also suggested that this years cover on the calendar calen-dar feature the Queen's Float at the coming Iron County Fair. In connection with the Iron County Fair, board chairman D. A. Stones requested the help of the club in procuring the ground lying between the Parowan High and Elementary schools, now a weed patch, as the location for a carnival which the Fair committee proposes pro-poses to bring in for the fair week end. Projects discussed included the proposed rest room construction con-struction on the city park and further improvements at the municipal swimming pool. Botli are considered with the cooperation of Parowan City. The operation of a concession stand at the Parowan race track during the County Fair was considered and approved by the club members. Tiie meeting was held in the humanities department of the Parowan High School. |
