Ho is the sort of land owner we like to have one who believes In Improving Improv-ing his property. The Ladles' Basket Ball team of Hinckley beat the Burtner team last Saturday evening. The Ilurtner boys evened It up by beating their Hinckley opponents tho same evening. The Hinckley orchestra will play for tho dance hero next Friday evening. even-ing. Mr. Bloomquist, foreman of the concrete con-crete gang at the spillway made a trip to the city last week. Mrs. Fred Lyman of Oak City was a visitor In Burtner last week. If. L. Fisher, who went to California last winter with his family has returned. re-turned. He says Burtner is good enough for him. Wo hear a great deal of complaint of the way tho Melville Co. is keeping up the ditches in town. The water Is allowed to break out and spread all over the streets in many places, much to the annoyance of pedestrians. Mrs. Kate Hatton of Fillmore passed through Burtner last Monday on her way homo from an extended visit in Idaho with her daughter. Loren A. Taylor is the new water master on the west side. The Delta Company has a large force of men and teams on the west side putting In cement head gates, fixing ditches, etc. A large amount of work remains yet to be done before every one gets what water he needs. The company automobile is kept busy taking land buyers over the tract. Richard Parker and wife of Abraham Abra-ham were visitors In Burtner last week. A much needed public improvement Is a bridge across the canal on the road between Burtner and Oasis. The banks are so steep and high that It Is Impassable with a load. The editor knows for be got badly stuck there last week. Principal Moench is going to be an agriculturist as well as an educator. He has taken up 120 acres of land just east of the Deseret reservoir and is having it cultivated. It Is excellent soil and well located and will make a splendid farm. |
