Show THE BRICK YARD. Geo. Cushman and H. F. Stout Jr.. who have a lease on the brick yard at the Deseret Spillway have made their first burning of 40.000 brick and will be able to furnish that number about every two , weeks. They have two kilns, and while one Is burning the other Is being filled. Each kiln has eight furnaces and the heat after rising ris-ing from the furnaces passes down through the brick, and the floor into a tunnel and out through tho smokestack. smoke-stack. They have a Quaker brick making machine with a capacity for 2000 brick per hour. It takes eight tons of coal to a burning. There Is an unlimited quantity of adobe for their bricks and with Just the right proportion of sand and clay to make the best grade of brick. Its quality Is Indicated by tho fact that It was used for the M. S. Academy at Hinckley. While at the brick yard the editor observed that W. N. Gardner, who is teaching school at Deseret Is making preparations to move Into his brick house here and cultivate his land ad-Joining ad-Joining the brick yard. |
