St. Patrick's Hall, Fifteenth and Curtis streets, never contained a merrier crowd than that which congregated last Wednesday Wednes-day evening to witness the installation of the new officers of the Sacred Heart Branch. C. 31. B. A. State Deputy J. A. Flynn performed the ceremony, and installed! the following officers to serve for the year: President, P. J. Gallagher: First Vice President, J. A. Gibson: Second Vice President, Barney Neville; Recording Secretary, Thomas Leavy; Assistant Recording Secretary. John P. Ham-mill; Ham-mill; Financial Secretary. Thomas Fielding; Trea.' urer, William JIaloney: 3Iarshal, E. J. Devlin: Guard. J. J. Dinneen: Trustees, J. 31. Gibson, Thomas Leavy. President Gallagher sid. in part: "Gentlemen, on be-half of Sacred Heart Branch No. 1. C. M. B. A., I bid you all a hearty welcome. Our object in inviting in-viting you is. firs-it, that you may spend a pleasant evening with us and partake Of OUr hcsnit.'llil v sor-nurl that those of you who are eligible to membership in our society may study its objects and its aspirations. With a membership member-ship of upwards of 50,000 and a reserve fund nearing the one million mark, it is easily in the front ranks of any fraternal fra-ternal society in this country today. Our most excellent refreshment and entertainment committee has arranged to make the evening pleasant and one long to be remembered, and wishing you all a happy New Year? Thomas Leavy started the ball rolling by singing "Killarney," and State Deputy Flynn's jig dancing deserves de-serves especial mention. Thomas Fielding Field-ing ;ind P. R. Ucordan told pome very witty stories. J. M. Gibson delivered a most eloquent acMrci-s, and 3Ir. Ham-mill Ham-mill gave a recitation. There was a prize cake-walk fcr a box of cigars between be-tween J. A. Flynn and Jerry Dinneen. Flynn is now smoking fine Havanas. C. J. Burns gave a song and dance and Joe Coniff rendered s-me beautiful selections; se-lections; on the violin, including some Irish jigs, and all joined in wishing SacreK Heart Branch health and prosperity pros-perity for the rest of the year. |
