All of the time of the meeting of the Anaconda Catholic, club Wednesday evening, Jan. 3, was taken up with the election of officers. of-ficers. There was to have been a debate de-bate on the question as to whether or not the United States should extend its sympathy to the Boers in the present war, but the election -was more exciting excit-ing and the debate was potponed to-the to-the next meeting, which will take place one week from last night. The contest con-test for office was all a good" natured one and was carried on by the friends of the contestants entirely. At times four or five ballots were necessary to a choice, and as there was a large attendance this took time. The officers chosen: were elected largely from the temporary organization, the president, secretary and treasurer being the same as those who served in these positions-during positions-during the preliminary stages of the club. The list cf those elected is as follows: President. J. E. McDonnell; first vice president, James P. Foley; second vice president, Peter Towey; secretary, W. J. Wallace; assistant secretary, sec-retary, E. E. 31cDonald; finacial secretary, sec-retary, W. H. 3Iahoney; treasurer. L. F. Verberckmoes; trusttes. T. J. 3Iur-phy, 3Iur-phy, John T. Casey and Rev. Father Follett. At the nest meeting President 31c-Donnell 31c-Donnell will announce his appointment of committees. |
