Show li. C. B. A. Installs Officers For 1900. The lodge rooms in Pioneer hall were crowded on last Tuesday even - by friends and members, of the i..:dios' Catholic. Benevolent Association. Seats were at a premium, but this did not mar the jolly good humor so evident on all sideis. The programme, though short, made up amply in quality what was lacking in quantity. 31iss Katie Rowan and 3I:fw Reichle gave clever musical musi-cal insrumontal selections. The Courtney sister.? followed with a vocal t-tf'ection. which wvsrs warmly applauded. applaud-ed. An encore, way called for, and the little ladies- responded with the "coon" melody. "My Ann Eliza." The final, and though last", but not Iean Dumber, wa a beautiful duct by Misses Tessie Courtney and Ida 31urpl.y. Th last versnH were repeated in response to a vigorous encore.: Installation of officers followed. The address of welcome was made by the reti-i.ig president, 31iss 31ary Page. Mrs. Lewis, supreme delegate, conducted con-ducted the cerem-ony of installation, which was carried out to the letter in every detail, according to the society mar-u.'t). Boyle: treasurer, Mrs. Mary Shea: marshal, 3Iiss Ella O'Neill: guard. Mi. Reynolds; trustees, trus-tees, 31i. Quinn, Mrs. Courtney, 31n?. 3IcBride, 31rs. Hogan; musician, 31isg Reichle. The new president, Mrs. Hughes, was called upon for a speech., but declined, on the score that ehe would have ample opportunity in that line during her term of office. After the installation, while lunch was being prepared, dancing was in dulged in as far as the limited floor space would permit The meetings during the coming year will be held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, in (Pioneer hall. The ladies desire to thank all who took part in the programme, which, though short, added so materially to the evening's enjoyment. |
