Show RESTAURANTS ARE NOW IONIZED ID AOE BEING PATRONIZED t The strike of the Cooks' and Walters' Walt-ers' union which was called against the three eatins houses of Anpus Ken nedj and against Stlmson's cafe has been settled and the restaurants are now declared to be union places and once more worthy to receive the patronage pat-ronage of union members. As stated in the Standard the strike was settled Tuesday at a Joint conference confer-ence of the restaurant men and the employees, each side making concessions conces-sions and the agreement being reached quickly. The matter of hours and pay for waitresses was settled to the satisfaction sat-isfaction of the working girls and the pay for cooks and waiters was also settled set-tled amicably. The restaurant men, Angus Kennedy and John A. Stimson. discussed th differences II h Charles Barnett of the local union and with J. J. Foley, business bus-iness agent of the union, and soon came to term?. The agreement was then signed and the strikers were ready to resume their places, although a number of the men who went on Btlike have gone to the shipyards to work for the government. The women arc still here, however, and have either eith-er found other employment or will return re-turn to their old places. The news of the ending of the strike traeled fast and there were many union men taking their dinner at the eating establishments, this beints the first time in ten days that the places have been patronized by union men. |
