Show W. S. M'CORNICK IS SUED FOR $175,000 SALT LAKE, June 19.- Walter G. Filer yesterday brought suit in the United States district court against William S. McCornick, asking for payment pay-ment of $175,000 and interest from April 29. 1918. In his petition Mr. Filer set forth that on February 17, 1913, Clarence K. McCornick and Willis McCornick doing do-ing business as stock brokers in New-York New-York under the name of 'McCornick Brothers.'' were indebted to him in the sum of $318,681 14. 11.- further alleges that on that date W. S. McCornick agreed to pay him $175,000 on February Febru-ary 22, 1918, in the event that the indebtedness in-debtedness had not been discharged by Clarence K. McCornick and Willis McCornick Mc-Cornick prior to that date. Payment not having been made, Mr. Filer has brought suit Frank J. Gustin of counsel for Mr. McCornick. declined yesterday to comment com-ment on the action other than to say that Mr. McCornick had an ample defense de-fense and was justified, both morally and legally, in resisting the payment oo |
