Show OGDEN TO BE VISITED BY CRACK BAND OE UTAH ARTILLERY CAMP KEARNY. Cal.. June 18 Utah's crack regimental band, which i has won fame throughout southern alifornla and which contains more soloists than any other military musical musi-cal organization in the western states, Will be heard In Utah on July 4, according ac-cording to plans outlined by Clarence J. Hawkins band master, today In ar-ranplnR ar-ranplnR a tour throughout the state during a period of three weeks. Although the plans for the tour were outlined today, It was not definitely decided which Utah city will have the first opportunity of hearing the cracs band. Milford Is promised a concert and daneo, which will cover the towns of Beaver, MlnerSYllle, Frisco and New-house New-house all homes of men in the Utah regiment, Ogden is on the list with the siiruc program, as well as Logan, Bingham, Bing-ham, Lehl. Provo. Nephi and Ephrlam. During the trip the bandsmen will be i given a five-day leave In which to visit their homes and rest after the hard concert work. The entire proceeds of the lour will be turned over to the regimental reg-imental fund and In order to cut tht expenses of the band members efforts ef-forts will be made In the towns for residents to take the players Into their homes during thoir stay. In this manner man-ner tho regimental fund Is expected to bo greatly strengthened. One of the features of tho tour will be tho regimental quartet, which will introduce tho new regimental aong. "We're Thinking of You. Utah," and many other popular army numbers. Band leaders Hawkins is now arrang Log programs for both classical and popular numbers for the tour and is putting his soloists through a grind that will put them at their best during tho tour. In B hattery today Sergeant John H Hanslnk was promoted to first ser- j geant and Walter C. Dalton rose to chief mechanic. Private R. Christonscn was promoted to mechanic and Private Albert E. Allard to corporal. Headquarters company announced the promotion of Sergeant Frank Peterson Pet-erson to first sergeant, Sergeant Leonard Leon-ard Grace to be supply -sergeant and Alton Owens to private of the Drat class. Corporal Edwin Gallachci. who won promotion yesterday, has been made headquarters clerk. In C battery the following men were promoted "to corporals: Wagoner Qeorge Elmer Snyder to saddler and Private Grover W. Aagell. Private Ray R. Shea and Private Fred L. Barry to wagoners. Those who rose to privates of the first class were Eljiotl B. Hampton. Hamp-ton. Roy A. Kay. Archlbuld Murphy, i Luzon R Musser aud Charles E. Roper. Rop-er. Private Willard W. Salmon was transferred from D battery to headquarters head-quarters company and the following ' men to the supply company: Private John M. Wilcox of B bnn r, r. .m. i Lawrence C. Watson of B battery.
