Duke University Uni-versity conferred degrees on more than 1,700 men and women wo-men during the university's 120th graduation exercises here Sunday. Walter Cronkite, managing editor and anchorman for CBS News, delivered the commencement commen-cement address in Duke indoor Stadium. Cronkite also received re-ceived an honorary doctor of letters degree during the exercises. ex-ercises. His speech was the climax to a weekend that also included a baccalaureate ad- dress by Dr. Jame9 T. Cleland, dean of the Duke Chapel. .Receiving a , degree from Duke from this area was: William Howard Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard M. Adams of Phoenix, Ariz and former residents of Parowan. William, received a degree as a Juris Doctor, according to the news release from the Durham, N. C. school. |
