Show SUSC Summer session begins Mon., June 12 Registration for Southern Jtah State College Summer ochool will be Monday, June i2 beginning at 8 a.m. in the iarge ballroom of the SUSC School of Continuing Education Educa-tion and Public Services. Jiasses for the first four-week oession will begin on June IS. Students may register for ooth summer school sessions at the first registration. However, How-ever, Dr. Cloward said that a .egistration for the second lour-week session will also be conducted on July 10. Nearly 200 classes and work-shops work-shops will be available during dur-ing the eight weeks the two summer school terms are in j session. Students may also , take courses which last the entire session. A maximum of j.5 hours is allowed for the eight-week session or up to 9 aours of credit for either of the four-week sessions. Fees for summer school are $50 per four-week session for I 5 or more credit hours and $90 for 8 or more credit hours in the eight-week session. Students Stu-dents taking less than the indicated in-dicated hours may pay a $12 egistration fee and $6 per credit hour. Graduate credit is $14 per credit hour. Counseling will be available at registration, Dr. Cloward I said. He especially encour-! encour-! ages recent high school graduates gradu-ates to take advantage of the summer courses to help prepare pre-pare for the regular academic year. Special testing and counseling is available for these students. - A number of courses are also being offered to help teachers meet the requirements require-ments for professional teaching teach-ing certification. Special workshops beginning beginn-ing next week include Beginning Begin-ning German, Intermediate German, Intergrated Shop Program, Music for Elementary Elemen-tary Teachers, Operating Instructional In-structional Media Equipment, Photo J o u r n a 1 ismUravel study), Beginning Spanish, Advanced Spanish, Youth Physical Fitness Program. The Western States Choral Symposium sponsored by SUSC SU-SC begins at Brian Head ski resort on June 19. Special guests will he Norman Luboff noted choral director, Richard Carpenter of "The Carpenters" and Tara Leigh, a member of the "Ding-A-Ling Sisters" featured fea-tured on the Dean Martin television show. Also beginning on June 9 will be the second of four six-day geography study tours conducted by SUSC Summer School. The first begins June 10 with others to follow during dur-ing the second session of summer sum-mer school on July 24 and Aug. 21. Private vocal and piano music instruction is available by arrangement with Dr. Blaine Johnson and Professor Hal Campbell beginning June 12. Eight lesons will be offered offer-ed for a special fee of $24. v |
