Show LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor, The Cedar Theater played a movie called "ZPG ZERO POPULATION GROWTH" early this week. Just In case anyone . thought the movie had -anything to do with the organization of that name, I thought I'd better send you a clarification. UJS. papulation, even at presently reduced birth rates, will double In 70 years. World population will double in only 33 years. ZPG .. the organization or-ganization doesn't think that the world can stand many more doublings of its population, and they advocate advo-cate a voluntary reduction of birth rates to two children per family, on the average. Some families will always be large, of course, but they hope that other families will have only one child, or possibly none, to keep the average down to two per family. ZPG '. the organization dislikes goverment controls as much as anyone. Possibly more, because they forsee great difficulties if population popula-tion levels become too high, and they feel that government govern-ment control might become much greater If that happens. Which is why they stress the voluntary nature of their pro-gram. pro-gram. So the movie" should be en-Joyed en-Joyed for what It is, an enter-talnment. enter-talnment. If anyone wants to know more about ZPG the organization -. the Southern Utah Environment Center at 99 No. Main, Room 2 (586-4001) (586-4001) has a library of Information Infor-mation and at lending service. ser-vice. The center is open afternoons, after-noons, and anyone is welcome wel-come to come in and browse. Lloyd Cordon |
