Show Impressive services held honoring Rodney L Benson With the Parowan Third Ward chapel filled to almost capacity, by friends, relatives and sympathizers from a wide area, funeral rites were held for Rodney L. Benson on Friday Fri-day afternoon.' Benson was crushed to death instantly in an industrial accident west of Cedar City at a hot mix plant about noon on Tuesday. 'The services were conducted conduct-ed by Bishop Hyatt Bentley and Itha Mortensen was at the organ for prelude and postlude music. The family prayer was offered by Lyle Farrow. The invocation was offered by Myron Abbott, Roy Benson offered the benediction benedic-tion and the grave in the Parowan Par-owan City cemetery, was dedicated ded-icated by Gene Benson, a'l of whom were uncles of the de-ceased. de-ceased. Speakers were Ralph Benson, Ben-son, an uncle, who also gave a life history, and Charles Blackburn, his employer, with remarks by Douglas Farrow. Musical numbers included two songs, "In The Garden of Tomorrow", and "Oh God, Fa-ther Fa-ther of Mercy", by a ladies' quartet, and an organ solo by Ola Robinson. Members of the quartet were Jackie Robinson. Rob-inson. Janet Jones. Katrine Johnson and Merna Mitchell, with Mrs. Mortensen at the piano. Pallbearers were Kerry Ben-son, Ben-son, Brent Betenson, Lee Abbott, Ab-bott, Richard Farrow, Robert Walker and Ross Berry. Honorary Honor-ary pallbearers were Michael Hyatt, Sidney Orton, Lynn Thornton, Steven Applegate and Douglas Evans, Flowers were carried by cousins. Military rites were under the direction of Parowan Post 20 of the American Legion. |
