Show o DISASTROUS FIRE AT THE CATES RANCH Fire of weed burning origin swept, disastrously over the W. C. Cates L ranch last Tuesday afternoon. Fanned by a high wind the barn, sheds and corrals were soon a pile of ashes. Six tons of hay, Fairbanks scales, a wheat fanning machine and barn equipment 'comprise the total loss, not covered by insurance. A small calf belonging to Dan Smithson seemed unable to follow the other calves to safety and was suffocated. suffo-cated. Neighbors and passing motorists helped wonderfully as a bucket brigade bri-gade but little could bo done except keep flames from reaching nearby outbuildings. o |
