Sometime ago, forseening the possibilities possi-bilities in a picture laid in the mountains moun-tains of the West with a large part of the cast recruited from cattle ranges rang-es and with cowboy slang and songs as an added novelty, purchased an original or-iginal story by Sylvia Thalberg and Frank Butler dealing with the experiences exper-iences of an Eastern society girl who visited her father's properties in Montana Mon-tana and fell in love with a cowpunch-er. cowpunch-er. Selecting Joan Crawford as the star and Malcolm St. Clair as director of the production, the company then proceeded pro-ceeded to make preparations for what was planned to be one of the screen invocations of the year a musical Western picture. The scenes of "Montana Moon" are said to be among the most picturesque pictures-que ever obtained for camera purpos-es purpos-es including vistas of cattle grazing in wide valleys, unusual shots of canyons and mountain precipices, campfire scenes and sequence-- depicting the various activities of cowboys, roping cattle and engaged in other purely Western pursuits. |
