Show NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR MAIN Council Ordinance Recommended Recom-mended for Passage by Committee, Provides for Cluster Light Scheme. An ordinance providing for the new lighting system on Main street was recommended re-commended for passage last night at a meeting of the Improvement committee of the City Council. Ornamental trolley poles on each side of the street. 118 feet apart, with a cluster of eight sixteen-ean-dle-power lights on each, and a light pole I between the trolley poles, each surmounted surmount-ed by eight slxteen-candle and two thirty-two-candle-power lamps, are proposed In the measure. Merchants on Main street are said to he in favor of the movement to illuminate the thoroughfare, and a majority of Coun-ciimen Coun-ciimen are also supporting it. The system, sys-tem, if adopted, will extend from South Temple to Fifth South street. Property owners along the main thoroughfare tho-roughfare will meet next Monday night with the City Council and discuss the proposed change In the. wid.th of the street and sidewalks, as advocated by City Engineer En-gineer Kelsey. By this method the sidewalks side-walks will widened six feet, taking In that part of the street paved w'th cobbles. |
