With her mind almost completely wrecked, Mrs. Flora McDonald, who , yesterday s shot and killed Webster 8. Guerin, was removed last night to the annex of the Harrison street police station, where her husband, hus-band, Michael O. McDonald, spent most of the night with her. After her removal her condition be-came,radually be-came,radually worse, and she could neither recognize McDonald nor others who had questioned her earlier in the day. . Bromides and hypodermic injec-' tions were given her almost every hour throughout the night, but she could not be quieted. At times she imagined the sun was shining over her ana that its rays had caused her head to burst. When quieted quiet-ed by her husband and attending physicians phy-sicians she would declare that she was-suffering was-suffering from aches and pains throughout through-out her body. At other times her hallucination hal-lucination was that she was on a voyage voy-age across the ocean in the midst of a storm. At another time she imagined that the annex was crowded with children. For a time his wife imagined that she was on the summit of Pike 's Peak praying, and in her prayers she appealed ap-pealed to God to tell her what the trouble was into which she had dragged her husband. All the while McDonald sat near her, striving to hold back his tears as he stroked her hands. From the time of the tragedy until a late hour last night Mrs. McDonald talked in a rambling and disconnected manner and little was obtained, from her concerning the motive of the crime. From other sources and also from pieees of crudely composed verse that were found in her handbag it was learned that Mrs. McDonald had been possessed oi an all-absorbing passion a love for some one. The object of her affections was not disclosed in the verses, but developments develop-ments after the tragedy led to the belief be-lief that it was Guerin. The verses were written on sheets of white paper in an uneven hand, and the writing is believed to be that of Mrs. McDonald. Treachery, death and undying love are among the subjects touched upon in the verses. Mrs. McDonald's explanation to the police as to. the motive for her crime seemed exploded by the statement of her husband. Mrs. McDonald declared that Guerin had been levying black- mail on her and that repeatedly he had 1 obtained sums from her on threats of exposure. She declared he had followed her to California after she had fled to escape his attentions, and renewed his demands. - Was Enamored of Guerin.
