Show PROHIBITION BLAMED FOR GREAT UNREST TRENTON, N. J., May 6. Declaring that the great unrest In the country and the drift toward radicalism was directly due to prohibition, James R. Nugent, of Newark, one of the Democratic Demo-cratic big four from New Jersey at an organization meeting of the Dom-1 ocratlc national delegates, together with tho Democratic state committee here, vigorously attacked national Democratic Chairman Homer S. Cum-minga. Cum-minga. He asserted that more full-blooded full-blooded and virile leadership' of the Democratic party was needed. Mr.' Nugent said that matters had come to a "pretty pass" when the Democratic party of the nation had to accept Iho leadership of Mr. Cumraings when there were men of the type of Senator Sena-tor Underwood available. Mr. Nugent made it plain that he' did not intend! to follow the leadership of Mr. Cum-mings Cum-mings and declared that the Democratic Demo-cratic party .could win tho presidency with Gov. Edwards as its candidate. |
