Show Risks Life To Save Soldier Risking a possible ambush, a Boneta, Utah, soldier recently bet his life and won in the dramatic rescue of a wounded Republic of Korea soldier. The Korean soldier was : wounded when his patrol skirmished skirm-ished with the enemy the nigt:t before. In the confusion, he was : left behind when the patrol ! withdrew. He was spotted the I next morning, still in front of j the friendly lines, by men of i Company C of the 25th Infan- j try Division's 35th Regiment. ' Pfc. Williarn C. Pearson, of Boneta, was one of seven men from Company C who quickly volunteered to go after him, despite de-spite the danger of an enemy ambush. The rescuers slipped by the main line of resistance, covered the 500 yards to the wounded soldier and brought him back, all without incident. Private First Class Pearson, a machine gunner, is a 1947 graduate of Altamont High School, Mt. Emmons. He was employed by the Utah Sand and Gravel Co. of -an Lake City before entering the Army in August 1951. |
