Show Myton Won Title Bn Sunday Tilt The final game of the season for the Uintah Basin League was played at the ,Myton Ball Park Sunday, with ' the Myton and Fort Duchesne teams competing for the championship. The boys made a lot of errors, piling up a big score. The final score, 14-18, gave Myton the game and the League championship. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Preece, Jr., and their two children joined join-ed Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Preece, Sr., of Roosevelt, on a trip to San Francisco, where they attended at-tended the wedding of Miss Edith Ed-ith Nell Preece, who became the bride of MSgt. Henry Van Doorne, at San Francisco, Saturday, Sat-urday, August 23. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Mitchell and daughter, who were visitors at the ranch home of Mrs. Mitchell's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Woodard, left last week for their home in Blue Lake, California. Mr. and Mrs. John Odekirk j and sons', - Mrs. Mary Nicholas, her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Erickson, and their two children, all of Los Angeles. California; Mrs. Doris Higby and. Mr. and Mrs. Warren War-ren Odekirk. of Salt Lake City, were guests last week at : the ranch home of their brother, Lawrence Odekirk, for a family get-together. Calvin Monks, district vice commarider of' District 9, American Amer-ican Legion, went to Salt Lake Wednesday night to join other delegates who left Thursday by train to attend the 34th National Convention of the American Legion Le-gion being held- in New York City. Mrs. Monks and her father, Tod Thomas, accompanied him to Salt Lake City. They were accompanied ac-companied home by Mrs. Thomas, Thom-as, who had been with her daughter, Mrs. Farrell Purcell, who recently underwent an operation. op-eration. Visitors at the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Giles are Mrs. Giles' mother, Mrs. A.'H. Manning Man-ning and two grandchildren, Beverly and Byron Simpson, of Ogden. Mrs. Helen Holder and son, Larry, of Salt Lake City, visited vis-ited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Harris last week. The Myton and Neola girls softball teams played a snappy game at Roosevelt Friday. Myton My-ton was the winner witha 20-16 score. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Jones and family spent the week in the Basin visiting relatives and friends. Karl and Kerry were euests of former school mates in Myton. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hamilton Hamil-ton are enjoying a visit from their son, Cpl. Colburn S. (Steve) Hamilton, .and his wife, who are on leave, from the Bar-stow Bar-stow Marine Qase. Miss Joan Gingell, who, is employed in Salt Lake City, is spending her vacation at the ranch home of her parents,-Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gingell. Mrs. Chris Goris and small son, of Bingham, -were weekend week-end visitors at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Smith. Darlene Smith, who has been visiting her sister in Bingham Bing-ham during the summer, came home with them. Mr. and Mrs. David Tanner received a clipping from a recent re-cent Sacramento, California, newspaper with a picture of their son, Lt. Blaine H. Tanner of 5616 El Arado Way, Sacramento, Sacra-mento, co-pilot; Cpl. Rodney Arnett, of Las Vegas, and 1 1st. Lt. B. M. Kellogg, of South Dakota. Da-kota. The young officers are an air crew of the Far East Ai Force. 315th Air Division, combat-cargo, who fly the Korean airlife from Japan to Korea. Blaine has been in Japan since February and has flown 500 missions to Korea. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Thomas, Mrs. Calvin Monks, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dennis, Mrs. Margie Mar-gie Jenson, Mrs. George Stewart, Stew-art, Sr., accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart, Jr., of Roosevelt, went to Price Sunday to attend the 60th wedding anniversary an-niversary of Mr. Thomas' parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Thomas. Open house was held at the home of another son, Harvey Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Woodard Wood-ard and family went to Colorado Colo-rado Saturday for a weekend trip, returning home Monday. SERVE DINNER TO WARD The girls of the Myton Ward Mutual Improvement Association Associa-tion proved their culinary sk;ll Saturday when, under the direction di-rection of the officers of the Y.W.M.IA, they served 20 hungry hun-gry men at the church farm. A delicious meal was prepared by the girls and the hungry threshers declared it was excellent. ex-cellent. Mr. and Mrs. George Funk are rejoicing over the arrival of their first grandchild, a daughter born Sunday, August 24, to Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Reynolds, at Roosevelt. The young mother is the former Frances Funk. Mr. and Mrs. James Dalgleish went to Duchesne Sunday to visit Mrs. Dalgleish's father, Ed Hart. Mr. Hart had spent Saturday Satur-day in Salt Lake City at the bedside of his wife, who is confined con-fined to a nursing home, convalescing con-valescing from a fractured hip. He reports Mrs. Hart is getting along as well as can be expected. expect-ed. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Robin son, Mrs. Bliss Lott and Mrs. R. H. Burdick were dinner guests Friday evening at th home of Miss Alice Todd. Tha occasion celebrated Mr. Robinson's Rob-inson's birthday anniversary. Sgt. Richard Jennings, who is on leave after a year's service in Korea, is visiting his father, W. A. Jennings. He expects to leave soon for the Marine Base in California. Mrs. Lydia Nielson and daughter, daugh-ter, Bonnie, returned home Sunday Sun-day from a week's visit in Salt Lake City, where they were guests at the home of her daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mecham. They also visited Mrs. Nielson s sisters in American Fork and Provo. Mr. and Mrs. George Stinson, of Kanosh, visited last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hamilton. Mrs. Wm. Peatross took her class of MIA girls to Uinta Canyon Monday for an overnight over-night camping trip. Mrs. Giles Wood and Mrs. An- j drew Tolboe went to Salt Lake , City Monday on a short business and pleasure trip. - j Alvan Pectol arrived Monday I from Areata, California, for a short visit at the home of his wife's mother, Mrs. Frank Bow-den. Bow-den. Mrs. Pectol and children ; have been visiting at the Bow-den Bow-den home during the past six weeks and will return to California Cal-ifornia with Mr. Pectol later this week. |
