Show Paper Drive Nets About 23 Tons In Collection The paper drive which came to an end in west Millard last Saturday Satur-day resulted in the shipping out of about 23 tons of scrap paper from the communities of this district. Friday and Saturday morning Topaz To-paz loaded about 9 tons from that district, and on Saturday the balance bal-ance of the paper from here was loaded, with the exception of two tons. This amount could not be put in the car, so the Fillmore car was stopped here en route and the 2 tons put in that so that all of the paper gathered up was shipped out. The drive was under the direction direc-tion of Irene Little, chairman, and lone Dalley and Luella Swalberg from the two Daughters of Utah Pioneers camps. The Boy Scouts aided materially in gathering up the paper well in advance of the drive, each striving for 1,000 lbs., so as to earn his Boy Scout- Gen. Eisenhower medal. The seventh grade at the school organized a group of "paper troopers," and did a lot of work during the drive and loading to make the drive a success. suc-cess. According to Mrs. Little the drive was extremely successful and she, and the other members of the committee wish to thank all who helped in making the drive the big success it was. |
