Show Pictures of Craters In Natural Colors About three weeks ago Nathan Ward took me up by air over Pahvant Pah-vant Butte (Sugar Loaf) and then to the craters west of Fillmore, and I took natural color shots in Kodachrome of each. The results were fairly good, with little to be asked for. I took two shots of Pahvant Butte; using that camera on small film it is sighted by means of a wire view finder, leaving some matter of judgment whether the field is correctly placed or not. I misjudged, and cheated myself I got only the top of the butte in either shot and one with so little of it taken that is was tossed into the waste basket. One of Clear lake, the game refuge, re-fuge, is very good. Five shots were taken of the craters west of Fillmore; one was ruined, and I can't account for it. The other four are good. The one of Miter crater is highly high-ly excellent, sharp detail, faithful color rendering, and from it I will have a color print made for display dis-play in the office. We bucked a head wind going, and when we turned on the back course, I got my best shot at that moment. In a jiffy, while getting the next film in place, the heavy tail wind zipped zipp-ed us along hellbent for 'lection, and as we whizzed by the little crater I took a pot shot. It was no soap. FAB |
