Show I Farm Slaughterers Must Register Starting April 30 Farm slaughterers and non-fed-erally inspected commercial and retail slaughterers must register beginning April 30 with the local OPA board. Commercial and retail slaughterers slaughter-ers must register between April 30 and May 14. Farm slaughterers must register and obtain a permit from their local board by July 1. However, a farm slaughterer may not sell or transfer after May 14 unless he has registered and received re-ceived a permit. The new regulation is part of the plan to channel more meat into non-producing areas. Quota of farm slaughterers will be limited to the amount of meat sold or transferred during 1944 as shown by their sales and collection of red points for surrender sur-render to their local rationing boards. The new program will not affect the retail meat ceilings. Adjustment of subsidies paid to the livestock and packing industry will be made to maintain the slaughter of beef cattle on a profitable prof-itable basis and minimize seasonal losses. A study of problems facing pork production is being completed to determine whether increases in subsidy payments or maximum prices are necessary. Any needed relief to the industry will be made retroactive to April 1, 1945. |
