Show CosMy Officials Wiii Take Office Jan. 1st Newly-elected county officials will take their oath of office at noon Monday, Jan. 1, reports Porter L. Merrell, county clerk, who will officiate at the ceremony. cere-mony. Statutes governing the taking tak-ing of oaths of office by county coun-ty officials stipulates that they shall be sworn in on the first Monday in January following their election. Attorney General Clinton D. Ver,.r.- has concurred con-curred in the opinion handed down in 1944 by Attorney General Gen-eral Grover A. Giles, that because be-cause the first Monday in January Jan-uary falls on New Year's day, this does not change the date for taking of the oath of office. Those who will take their oath of office for a four-year term are: Dorothea Allred, recorder; re-corder; Florence Poulson, treasurer; treas-urer; G. B. Workman, assessor; Arzy H. Mitchell, sheriff: James Hall, attorney; Porter L. Merrell, Mer-rell, clerk; Floyd Case, commissioner. commis-sioner. Ray Brown will be sworn in office for a two-year j term as commissioner. |
