Pronunciation Now Is 'Holstine' Official LANSING, MICH. The Holstein-Friesian Holstein-Friesian Association of America has sent out a nation-wide notice that hereafter the name of the black-and-white cow should be pronounced "holstine" and not "holsteen." The decision to establish pronunciation pronun-ciation of the name came after the association, at its annual convention conven-tion here, voted the move, 250 to 25. The issue was decided on the basis of reports from Martin D. Butli, Comstock Park, Mich., who is a native of The Netherlands, where the breed originated. He said that "ei" is pronounced "i" in the old country.
