Show In Our Town... DELVON HUMPHREY' Technically speaking, Del is not a newcomer to Springville, but he has kept himself so well hidden during the past six years that he might as well be a total stranger. However, Del has a perfect excuse in this case, as he and Novella, (Mrs. Humphreys) had very little more than an idea and two abandoned aban-doned oil drum3 to make their debut in the dry cleaning business, busi-ness, using all their time as the other asset necessary for success. The result of this labor is very apparent today. We now take you back forty years to Millville, Utah. (Never heard of the place.) Borrt with a legitimate farm background, at 14 he answered the manpower shortage of 1918 by getting into telegraphy. This took him all over the country, winding up as wire chief for Postal Telegraph in Salt Lake City. While at Postal, he contracted love-at-first-sight. This resulted In the present partnership of Del, Novella, Loretta (age seven) sev-en) and Don, whom you all know and who is with the Army Engineers Engi-neers in Hawaii at present. Del weighs about one hundred and twenty pounds with an anvil in his hand. We suspect this to be the result of three years operation oper-ation of an amateur radio station in Salt Lake, W6DFY. With so many diversified interests, it is only recently that Novella has been able to make him concentrate concen-trate on one enthusiasm at a time. Hunting and fishing are about his only hobbies now, but, with the new plant in operation, he hopes to get back to his first love of building up his library. With all these roots in the ground, we know that Del and Novella will be permanently ours and we wish them all the best in the world. THE CATALYST. |
